[REC]2 continues 15 minutes after [REC] left off and doesn't veer far away from the original.  The tone, filmmaking style and storyline are almost the same.  For some of you this will be a good thing, for me I was hoping for more.

Swat team members and a member of the health department are sent into the quarantined apartment building where the virus is wreaking havoc. The mission of the health department official is to obtain a blood sample that can be used for creating a vaccine to fight the decease.  But not is all it seems as the secret of what the virus is revealed.

For those of you who play video games this movie will make you feel right at home.  The filmed on camcorder approach is almost identical to gaming as you feel as you are traveling first person through the building while infected people rush to attack you.

Some of the problems I had with the movie are that the story movies only a fraction of an inch.  There are no likable characters as every man, woman and child argues constantly (what was quite funny during these arguments was almost everyone says to just relax).  This makes most of the people annoying and you honestly don't care if they live or die.  In fact, my friend watching the DVD with me wanted to see many of them in his words, "Off the screen."

I also got tired of the characters going up the stairs, into the attic, then back down the stairs into the apartments, then up the stairs, down the stairs and so on.

The two other things I didn't like were the way the film starts out.  As the Swat team and health official (I'll call him that so I don't give away his actual job) enter the building the stairs are empty, free of dead bodies and there's no infected in sight.  But if you remember the way the first movie ended, the staircase was virtually a funhouse full of infected running about.  This whole set up was contrived, too convenient for the opening of the movie.  The last issue is that I didn't find it scary.  You can't use the same tactic over and over to frighten an audience.  The scares were the same; camera roving down long hallway until one of the bloody faced infected (usually a child) comes running out to attack.  Sometimes they came from behind a closed door and one or twice from above.

I can't fault Sony Pictures Home Entertainment the excellent job on the DVD, which looks and sounds great and they provide some insightful extras.  Special Features include Deleted Scenes, Behind the Scenes Featurettes, A Walkthrough of the Set, [REC]2 On Tour and Stiges Film Festival Press Conference.

I'm sure there will be lots of people who disagree with my view of this movie.  Movies effect people differently and that's a good thing.  I hope you are able to enjoy it more than I did.
